A simple and calming DIY project to create Sparkly Bouncing Balls using glue, cornstarch, and glitter.

Ingredients

  • Clear glue, 4 to 6 ounces
  • Cornstarch or texture filler, 2 to 4 tablespoons
  • Contact lens solution or saline with boric acid, small bottle
  • Fine cosmetic glitter, small jars
  • Food coloring or liquid dye, optional
  • A mixing bowl
  • A small spoon or spatula
  • Measuring spoons
  • Wax paper or silicone mat
  • A small container of water
  • A soft towel

Instructions

  1. Pour about 4 ounces of clear glue into your bowl.
  2. Add one to two drops of food coloring if you want a tint.
  3. Stir softly to blend the color into the glue.
  4. Sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and fold the mix.
  5. Add glitter a small spoonful at a time.
  6. Drop in a little contact solution and stir.
  7. Dust your hands lightly with cornstarch and start to roll.
  8. Shape into round balls and place on wax paper.
  9. Test a single ball by dropping it gently from a low height.
  10. Let the balls rest overnight for best bounce.

Notes

These balls can be used for mindfulness and sensory play. Experiment with colors and glitters for different effects.
