Melted Crayon Flower Suncatchers

A calming and colorful DIY project to create beautiful suncatchers using melted crayons.

Ingredients

  • Crayons (varied colors)
  • Pencil sharpener or knife
  • Oven-safe mold or baking dish
  • Wax paper or parchment paper
  • Scissors
  • Transparent fishing line or string
  • Oven (set at 200°F or 93°C)
  • Optional: heat-resistant silicone mold for flower shapes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. Peel off the paper from each crayon.
  3. Sharpen the crayons using a pencil sharpener or cut them into pieces.
  4. Prepare your mold by lining it with wax paper or parchment paper.
  5. Sprinkle the crayon shavings into the mold, mixing colors as desired.
  6. Place the mold in the oven and watch the crayons melt together.
  7. Check after 10-15 minutes to see if melted; then remove from oven.
  8. Cool the melted crayons slightly, then refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  9. Pop the suncatcher out of the mold once solidified.
  10. Trim any uneven edges with scissors and punch a hole for hanging.

Notes

Store away from direct sunlight to maintain vibrant colors. You can melt down any damaged suncatchers to create new designs.
