Create meaningful Easter keepsakes by capturing your child’s foot print in clay or dough, preserving a precious moment in time.

Ingredients

  • Air dry clay or salt dough
  • A clean, damp cloth
  • A flat board or tray
  • Small rolling pin or smooth bottle
  • A tiny shallow dish of water
  • Soft, fine sandpaper (optional)
  • Acrylic or tempera paint in soft colors
  • Small paintbrushes, size 0 to 4
  • Clear matte sealer or varnish (optional)
  • Ribbon or twine (optional)
  • A pencil or toothpick
  • Wax paper or a silicone mat

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace.
  2. Soften and roll your clay.
  3. Position the child or foot.
  4. Make the impression.
  5. Smooth the edges.
  6. Add names or dates.
  7. Let the piece dry.
  8. Lightly sand if needed.
  9. Paint in soft layers.
  10. Seal and finish.

Notes

Air dry clay holds detail well and doesn’t require baking. Use non-toxic paints if children will handle the piece often. Allow time for each layer to dry before adding more paint.
