A delightful and calming art project for children, involving sugar water and food coloring to create vibrant paintings.

Ingredients

  • Sugar (easy to find)
  • Water (warm, for dissolving)
  • Food coloring (as many colors as desired)
  • Small cups or containers (for mixing)
  • Paintbrushes (soft bristles work best)
  • Thick paper or cardstock (to support the wet paint)
  • Mixing spoon (for stirring)

Instructions

  1. Begin by mixing about 1 cup of warm water with 3 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. Stir gently until the sugar fully dissolves.
  2. Divide the sugar water evenly among small cups.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to each cup of sugar water.
  4. Select a piece of thick paper or cardstock as your canvas.
  5. Dip a paintbrush into one of the colored mixtures.
  6. Gently touch the brush to the paper, allowing the colors to spread and flow.
  7. Continue to explore with each color, layering and mixing as you go along.
  8. Once finished, allow your artwork to dry in a safe place.
