Ingredients

  • Crayons (red, pink, orange, and any other colors you enjoy)
  • Wax paper or parchment paper
  • An iron (safely managed with adult supervision)
  • Scissors
  • A heart-shaped template (optional)
  • A window with natural light for display

Instructions

  1. Preheat your iron to a low setting.
  2. Place a sheet of wax or parchment paper on a flat surface, laying the heart-shaped template on one side if using.
  3. Peel the crayons and grate them or chop into tiny pieces.
  4. Sprinkle the crayon pieces over the template.
  5. Fold the paper over to cover the crayon pieces.
  6. Put the sandwich of paper between two layers of clean cloth or paper towels.
  7. Gently glide the warm iron over the cloth to melt the crayons.
  8. Keep the iron moving to prevent burning. Lift the top layer to check on the melting.
  9. Once satisfied with the melting, remove the iron and let the suncatcher cool.
  10. Cut around the heart shape or desired pattern once cooled.
  11. Punch a hole at the top to hang your suncatcher with string or tape.
