A calming DIY project to create beautiful pressed flower charms using cornstarch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • A small saucepan
  • Wax paper or parchment paper
  • Fresh flowers (or dried)
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • An airtight container for storage

Instructions

  1. Begin by pouring 1 cup of cornstarch into the saucepan and adding 1 cup of water. Stir gently until it combines into a smooth mixture.
  2. Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens into a dough-like consistency (around 5 minutes).
  3. Once thickened, remove it from the heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Transfer the warm dough onto a clean work surface lined with wax paper.
  5. Roll out the dough to a thickness of around 1/4 inch.
  6. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters, making a variety of sizes.
  7. Press your chosen flowers into each cut-out shape.
  8. Peel them from the wax paper and let dry on a clean surface for at least 24 hours.
  9. Once dry, use strings or hooks to hang your pressed flower charms.

Notes

For a personal touch, consider using different types of flowers and add natural dyes for color.
