Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Corn Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon White Vinegar
  • Food Coloring (optional)
  • Wax Paper
  • Cookie Cutters (in flower shapes or any design)
  • Mixing Spoons

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup of water into your saucepan and add 2 cups of sugar, stirring gently to combine.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to dissolve, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add 1 cup of corn syrup and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, stirring slowly until fully incorporated.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it bubble for about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and, if desired, drop in a few drops of food coloring and stir.
  6. Place wax paper flat on your workspace and carefully pour the mixture into your cookie cutters.
  7. Let the mixture sit at room temperature until hardened, which can take several hours.
  8. Once hardened, carefully remove the flower hearts from the cookie cutters and allow them to dry fully for a few more hours.

Notes

Store the finished glass-like hearts in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to maintain their vibrance.
