Create bright, glass-like suncatchers that mimic tiny lava lamps, perfect for sunny windows and creative fun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 clean plastic lids
  • Clear school glue
  • Liquid food coloring
  • Vegetable oil (or baby oil)
  • Toothpicks or cotton swabs
  • Hole punch or skewer
  • String or suction cup hooks
  • Wax paper or tray

Instructions

  1. Set Up Your Workspace: Lay out wax paper or line a tray and place the plastic lids facing up.
  2. Pour the Clear Glue: Squeeze enough clear glue into each lid for a thin, smooth base layer.
  3. Drop in Colour: Add 2–4 small drops of food coloring in fun patterns.
  4. Add Oil for Blobs: Pour in 1–2 teaspoons of vegetable oil and let it bead up on top.
  5. Swirl Creatively: Use a toothpick to lightly swirl without overmixing.
  6. Let Dry Completely: Leave to dry for 3–5 days in a flat area until the glue dries clear.
  7. Peel, Punch & Hang: Peel off the suncatchers, punch a hole at the top, thread through string, and hang them in a sunny window.

Notes

Work in small batches for faster drying. Use suction cup hooks for easy display.
