A fun and simple craft for kids to create bubble snakes using common household items.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 empty plastic water bottle (500 mL)
  • 1 old sock (clean and stretchy)
  • Scissors
  • Dish soap (any brand)
  • Water
  • Small bowl or container for bubble solution
  • Optional: food coloring or liquid watercolor for rainbow snakes
  • Optional: rubber band (for extra sock security)

Instructions

  1. Cut the bottom off the plastic bottle using scissors. Stretch the sock over the cut end, pulling it tight. Secure with a rubber band if needed.
  2. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup water and 2–3 tbsp dish soap gently to avoid too many bubbles.
  3. For rainbow snakes, drop food coloring onto the sock bottom.
  4. Dip the sock-covered end into the bubble solution and blow gently through the bottle opening to create a long, stretchy bubble snake.

Notes

Work on a covered surface for easy cleanup and use a stretchy sock for smoother bubbles. Supervise young children, especially around scissors.
