A calming and engaging craft project that creates a glow-in-the-dark rain cloud effect in a jar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large clear glass jar (mason jar)
  • Warm water (enough to fill 3/4 of the jar)
  • A generous dollop of white foaming shaving cream
  • Glow-in-the-dark or neon food coloring (a few drops of your favorite colors)
  • Small bowls or cups (2-3 for mixing colors)
  • Pipettes, droppers, or teaspoons (1 for each color)

Instructions

  1. Fill your jar with warm water until it’s about 3/4 full.
  2. Plop a generous amount of white foaming shaving cream on top of the water.
  3. In small bowls or cups, mix your chosen glow-in-the-dark or neon food coloring with a splash of water.
  4. Carefully drizzle the colored water over the shaving cream and watch the colors trickle down.

Notes

Keep the jar covered with a lid if you want to save it for a short time. The shaving cream will break down after a while. If the water gets cloudy or starts to smell, empty and make a fresh one.
