A relaxing DIY project that allows you to create beautiful, colorful stepping stones for your garden using concrete and non-toxic dyes.

Ingredients

  • Concrete mix
  • Water
  • Food coloring or non-toxic dyes
  • A mold for shaping
  • Paintbrush or sponge
  • Optional: clear sealant
  • Optional: plastic gloves

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your workspace. Lay down newspaper or a plastic sheet to catch any spills.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the concrete mix with water according to the package instructions. Stir slowly until it reaches a smooth and blendable texture.
  3. Divide the mixture into smaller bowls if you plan to use different colors. Add a few drops of food coloring or non-toxic dye to each bowl and mix thoroughly.
  4. Carefully pour the colored concrete into your mold, ensuring each section is filled evenly.
  5. Once the molds are filled, give them a gentle shake to level the surface and release any air bubbles.
  6. Allow your stones to set as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. After the stones have cured, gently remove them from the molds.
  8. If desired, use a paintbrush or sponge to add more details or create designs on your stones.
  9. To ensure longevity, consider applying a clear sealant after the stones are completely dry.

Notes

Experiment with different molds and consider embedding pebbles or shells for added texture. Using essential oils can add a pleasant aroma to your stones.
