Ingredients

  • 1 balloon (any color)
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda (non-toxic)
  • 1/2 cup of vinegar (white or apple cider)
  • A plastic bottle with a narrow neck
  • A funnel (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by putting the funnel into the neck of the bottle.
  2. Pour two tablespoons of baking soda into the bottle.
  3. Stretch the mouth of the balloon and fit it over the funnel.
  4. Slowly pour in the 1/2 cup of vinegar into the bottle without mixing yet.
  5. Lift the balloon off the funnel and drop the baking soda into the vinegar.
  6. Stand back and watch the balloon inflate as the reaction occurs!
  7. Enjoy the sight and sound of the experiment.
